1.2 About the Job

 

1.2.1 Overview

The Consulting Engineer may be responsible for a variety of areas, depending on their particular interest and aptitude. Key areas we’re looking to staff are:

  • Technical Engagement Management
    When we start our relationship with a client, we work to determine their particular needs, help them implement best practices, plan the implementation, and then make it all happen.
  • Ongoing Software Support and Maintenance
    This part of the job is about helping customers through issues. It’s also about helping Leonid understand why that issue occurred in the first place and how we could have avoided it.
  • Customer Advocacy/Management
    This job is about owning/being responsible for Leonid’s relationship with a client or set of clients. The candidate will work with a variety of parties inside Leonid, as well as customers and partners.

1.2.2 Example Tasks

The following are a few example tasks the Consulting Engineer would perform:

  • Create an implementation plan for a new installation of Leonid’s Loki suite, working with the client and internal teams.
    • Execute and manage said plan.
  • Diagnose an application failure, working up the “stack” with the client to determine the source of the issue and working with the client to resolution.
    • Also, complete a post-mortem on the issue and work with the client’s CA on how well the client’s been trained to complete troubleshooting.
  • Work with the client to understand a functional requirement and determine whether it’s a process issues, configuration issue, or feature request.
  • Run or assist on a consulting engagement to formulate business process best practices for a client
  • Work with a client on an ongoing basis to determine how well Leonid’s partnering with them on their business and managing day to day/week to week activities.

1.3 Key Qualifications

  • Undergraduate (minimum) degrees in the field of Computer Science, other Engineering, Primary Sciences, Finance, or Information Systems and/or 4+ years related work experience
    • candidates with less experience with a compelling academic record (or a really great story) will also be considered
  • At least some experience with software development (undergraduate coursework, etc.) and Unix systems administration.
  • Experience with CRM applications (SugarCRM, salesforce.com, Oracle BPM, etc.) a plus
  • Experience with the design, development, and implementation of software solutions
  • Working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Proven experience creating technical documentation for a variety of audiences (technical/developer as well as end user)
